Message to page owner.

This page is one of the most important pages on this WIKI. With all the recent changes to the OpenSim software, I feel that this page is majorly out of date. I am happy to re-hack the whole page if it is of any interests to the admin.

The central idea of a wiki is that the pages are not owned by a particular person but by everybody. So feel free to make your changes. But please keep in mind that there are currently a lot of installations of OpenSimulator 0.6.x. Probably the majority of all grids are still using that version. Therefore, it may be better to add your changes to this page instead of replacing what is already there. --Marck 13:36, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank Marck, My idea was to write a complete page with all the configuration options laid out covering various versions back to 0.6.6. and then add links to satellite pages. Just think that adding to it will only make the situation worse not better.

I will have a look at the text and see what I can come up with.

Just fyi, I was also hoping to improve this page but in the end I might not get time this week. Jez, if you want to post any draft text here that would be great. I don't think that the standalone section is too bad (though things could always do with better explanation). The grid part certainly needs attention.

Personally, I think that it would be better to make the main page relate to 0.7 and inline differences for 0.6.9, or possibly put them on a separate page. Having this page relate to an older version than the current release is confusing, imho. I'd be relucant to go back further than 0.6.9 (or possibly 0.6.8 since that has identical configuration to 0.6.9). But I guess if that's all on seperate pages then it's not too bad Justincc 19:04, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
