General

Welcome to OpenSimulator version 0.9.1.0 Snail, an open-source multi-user 3D virtual environment and metaverse server platform.

OpenSimulator is a highly complex system. Various usage scenarios (standalone, grid, hypergrid, etc.) in combination with different dependencies (e.g. different versions of mono on Linux/Mac) can sometimes produce unexpected or unstable behaviour.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of OpenSimulator, then we strongly recommend that you start off with the default configuration files and port over any changes you made to your older version of OpenSimulator.

This release corresponds to the 0.9.1.0 Dev (git master) as of October 28, 2019. This version includes several corrections and improvements to the previous release 0.9.0.1.

You can download this release of OpenSimulator from http://opensimulator.org/dist.

Known Issues

  • Users may need to reduce the viewer bandwidth, if they notice invisible prims or parts of terrain.
  • Do not forget to delete folder ScriptEngines; Use this version ini files. Only use your old ones as reference.
  • Running more than one viewer at same time may ocasionaly cause missing prims. This is a viewer issue, and depends on the viewer in use.

Requirements

OpenSimulator 0.9.1.0 requires:

  • At least .NET Framework 4.6 when running under Windows.
  • At least Mono 5.x when running under Mono (Linux or Mac).

Due to database migration renumbering which occurred at release 0.9.0.0, if you are upgrading from a version of OpenSimulator prior to 0.8.2.1, then you MUST first upgrade to *0.8.2.1* and then proceed to upgrade directly to 0.9.1.0. See 0.9.0.0_Release#Pivot_Release:_0.8.2.1 for more advice.

Changes and Fixes

  • New script engine: Yengine (XEngine is still the default).
  • osslEnabled.ini now uses section name [OSSL] to allow for multiple script engines.
  • New OSSL functions, see OSSL Functions with examples.
  • Support for viewer side objects cache.
  • Support for mesh objects animations.
  • MRM module was removed.
  • Early Bakes on Mesh (BoM) support. Viewer developments are required to allow BoM to display, otherwise coloured fall back textures are shown.
