[Opensim-dev] future rexviewer merger

LOL no penis waving indeed ;)
I didnt intend to start a flamewar - only to point out that the nexus of
developement is with the opensim project, and as a direct consequence,
coordination with that team is, IMNSHO, a no-brainer.
As for room for improvement in opensim, that goes without question - I am
pretty well known as an equal opportunity offender. If someone does
something cool, I say, "Hey now that's cool" without reservation. If someone
is pissing up a tree, I say "Hey look, someone is pissing up a tree". I call
it like I see it, anything else would just be so much BS.
As for your millions invested in opensim development, I appreciate and thank
you for any resources you have expended in the interest of the project; if I
had millions, I might do something similar.
Unfortunately, all I have is time - and for the past year or so, I have
pretty well spent every waking hour testing and promoting opensim software.
I would be DELIGHTED to work with the Rexx team's viewer/server code as well
- but unfortunately, from the very first day, they failed to embrace the
notion that this is a *cross platform project* and produced code that only
runs on one platform, pretty well painting me right out of the picture.
Until I can build their project(s) on a linux platform, I have little choice
but to write them off as someone that just doesn't 'get it'. Between you and
me and the rest of the readers of this list, I *truly* wish they would 'get
it'.
They say they cant find a linux developer - but I happen to know the world
is full of them. If they'd like to pay me to forego the opportunity to
commit patches to the opensim codebase, for a sufficient sum they could get
me to jump right in and bail like the boat was sinking.
Otherwise, I simply cannot see where the value is for me to even provide
them with lipservice.
Cheers,
James
