[11:08 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: welcome everyone :)
[11:09 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: hello :)
[11:09 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: abotu last week code changes, i did a small change on YEngine, reducing reduntant calls to a check to scritps stackframe
[11:10 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: I rebuilt libopenjpeg and Bullet just for fun, to see if there were any changes there, no issues
[11:10 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: oops sorry done
[11:10 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: i had update ubode antive code for windows, and Cuga did provide us files for MAC os, but x64 and a4m64, combined on a universal dylib, now pushed to dotnet6 branch
[11:11 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: well and that was it on code changes :(
[11:12 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: nothing to be sad about :)
[11:12 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Is this going to enable running OpenSIm in 64bit mode on a Raspberry Pi?
[11:12 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: the binaries I made I donlt think they will run on Pi
[11:12 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: this where compiled for mac
[11:12 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Yeah, but it is an ARM...
[11:13 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: they do share same arch and dylib name, but different dependent libs
[11:13 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: but I dunno, you could try
[11:13 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: hmm current we do not have the linuc arm64 so
[11:14 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: only a libBulletSim it seems
[11:15 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: who was building those for Pi before?
[11:15 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Gavin
[11:16 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: ahh
[11:16 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Hello, everyone.
[11:16 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: thing gavin did it
[11:16 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: Hi Andrew
[11:16 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: think..
[11:16 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Excuse my tardiness. I was doing some online shopping for groceries and didn't notice the time.
[11:16 AM PT] Lyr Lobo: Hi Andrew
[11:16 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: and a few others..
[11:17 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: welcome, andrew, we just did cover last week code changes
[11:17 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Suspect ain't that complicated if you have a Pi at hand anyways, plenty of resources out there on how to get that working and I think Gavin even has some tutorials on that
[11:19 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: should compile also fine ( or with minor changes on config/makefile )
[11:20 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Who is trying to get the code compiled on a Pi?
[11:20 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: What else happened last week. I found a mild annoyance with Prebuild that I put on mantis. Have a local fix for it, but a bit of a hack not sure who I should poke to fix that
[11:21 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Xunit is still not playing along, but I'll keep beating that into submission
[11:21 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Still doing backports from dotnet to mono, with mild success, code is diverging quite heavily lately
[11:23 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: ( gavin has thsi od pi 32bit https://www.dayturn.com/viewer/index.php?resources/updated-libubode-for-32-bit-raspianos.235/ )
[11:23 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: errr
[11:23 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Vincent, IIRC, Ubit did indicate something like that would happen
[11:23 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Yeah, I had that 32bit OpenSim running for a while.
[11:23 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: ( gavin has thid for pi 32bit https://www.dayturn.com/viewer/index.php?resources/updated-libubode-for-32-bit-raspianos.235/ )
[11:24 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: I wonder if it would work ok on my Pi4.
[11:24 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: Aren't most Pi's 64-bit now?
[11:24 AM PT] Motoko.Karu @login.digiworldz.com:8002: yes
[11:24 AM PT] Orbert.Tatham @hg.zetaworlds.com: The current OS is
[11:24 AM PT] Orbert.Tatham @hg.zetaworlds.com: but you can get 32 bit
[11:24 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: our prebuild currently has no means to set main project on a VS solution
[11:25 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: so that needs to be set by hand after :)
[11:25 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: think is is only useful to run code inside its debug
[11:25 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Back when I got my Pi, the OS was 32bit, but they were working on an upgrade
[11:26 AM PT] Orbert.Tatham @hg.zetaworlds.com: The 64-bit is the mainline now
[11:26 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Which is annoying if you have to run prebuild multiple times cause it keeps resetting, it can be fixed by adding another option in the configurations and then sorting over the projects before they are written to solution. Bit of a hack though, not really elegant way of doing that me thinks
[11:27 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: wel rasp also has diferent flavours of linux... maybe they may need own compiles
[11:27 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: I'm considering throwing out the Pi and just getting a MiniPC....
[11:28 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: im extending the life of prebuild. other projects jsut moved to fixes VS solution and project files
[11:28 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: ...fixed..
[11:28 AM PT] Motoko.Karu @login.digiworldz.com:8002: I've been playing around with lenovo-thinkcentres... cheaper than the pis . faster..and more expandable
[11:30 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Used hardware so it doesn't end in a landfill
[11:30 AM PT] Motoko.Karu @login.digiworldz.com:8002: this ^
[11:31 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: they make great airplay receivers for extra rooms in your house
[11:31 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: aiplay receivers?
[11:31 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: thats the Apple-centric music/video streaming over the LAN
[11:32 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: well the zx81 got used to keep doors open etc
[11:32 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: paperholder...
[11:32 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: an similar nice uses :)
[11:32 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: What a sad use of an old ZX81.
[11:32 AM PT] Motoko.Karu @login.digiworldz.com:8002: zx81 as in timex/sinclair?
[11:33 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: I made a fish tank from a Mac Plus years ago...
[11:33 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: timex are clones of it
[11:33 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Motoko, yes.
[11:33 AM PT] Motoko.Karu @login.digiworldz.com:8002:
[11:33 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: well oficial clones
[11:33 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Right
[11:34 AM PT] Orbert.Tatham @hg.zetaworlds.com: I still have uses for Pi3B stuff, a lot of amateur radio stuff was written for it
[11:35 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: There is a distro specifically for ham radio use.
[11:36 AM PT] Lyr Lobo: yes
[11:37 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: hard to imagine that being useful
[11:37 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: but great for pushing the edge see whats possible
[11:38 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: If somebody with a 64 bit Pi wants to try running an arm64 lib buit for Mac arm64, PM me.. I probably need to build an arm64-only binary, not hard to do, since the Mac binary has arm64 and x86_64 both embedded
[11:38 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: If you are a amateur radio operator it could be very useful but that is getting a bit off topic.
[11:38 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: that would be an interesting test
[11:38 AM PT] Orbert.Tatham @hg.zetaworlds.com: That is what Ham radio is
[11:40 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Any questions for today?
[11:42 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: under heavy use ubODE was crashing OS on macOS. That was before bug fix. I will try to reproduce using new ubODE lib
[11:42 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: no idea if that crash was related to bug
[11:42 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: that was during the demolition derby, with heavy use of llDetectedLinkNumber()
[11:43 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: If still happening I'll capture logs
[11:43 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: and talk about it more
[11:44 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: but maybe bug fix fixed it
[11:44 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: maybe stack size issues like on linux
[11:44 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: I thought that too but default stack size on Mac is pretty hugs
[11:44 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: huge*
[11:44 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: maybe you also need to increase it on mac ??
[11:44 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: checking..
[11:45 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: stack 8388608 67104768
[11:45 AM PT] Motoko.Karu @login.digiworldz.com:8002: Heya Joe
[11:45 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: Joe!
[11:45 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: We had another outage of the server hosting opensimulator this past week. It was another case of the system running out of memory from what I could see from the system logs. I suspect the problem is a bad web server configuration. It needs to be told to spawn a lot fewer child instances.
[11:45 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: ]so default stack already bigger than OS tries to set
[11:45 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Hello, Joe.
[11:46 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Andrew it needs a bit more than just a config change at this point
[11:47 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: That is the main thing it needs and is easily done. Just need to work out the best set of numbers for it.
[11:47 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: It shouldn't even allow itself to be flooded to death like that in the first place
[11:49 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: It isn't a DOS issue. Just that it is allowed to spawn too many web server instances. Last time I saw the problem was due to a search engine going though the site.
[11:50 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: The search engine wasn't well behaved so I wound up blocking it.
[11:51 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: If that were the only issue with it... well that's not a good topic for the meeting, it's internal things
[11:52 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: search engines are notorious for taking up system resources and messing the performance
[11:53 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Years ago I had to deal with a badly written search engine that someone must have only recently written. It was making hundreds of page requests per second. I had to firewall that one too.
[11:54 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: there is a min/max spawn setting that could be tweaked, but real world traffic is so spiky, always hard to manage
[11:54 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks nods
[11:54 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: we ended up putting the search feature on a separate server
[11:55 AM PT] Joe Magarac: Off topic: New version of Sharpview is out. 0.4.6. Mostly bug fixes.
Please try.
[11:56 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Got a link?
[11:56 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: What is Sharpview?
[11:56 AM PT] Joe Magarac: https://www.animats.com/sharpview
[11:56 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Name sounds familiar.
[11:56 AM PT] Joe Magarac: Experimental viewer.
[11:57 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Oh, right. I knew I had seen the name before.
[11:57 AM PT] Motoko.Karu @login.digiworldz.com:8002: hihi Joe, where do we get a username/password?
[11:57 AM PT] Joe Magarac: Works on SL and OSGrid. Can't get out of the home region of Kitely. because teleports aren't in yet.
[11:57 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: windows only?
[11:57 AM PT] Joe Magarac: Download needs username "devs", password "thread".
[11:58 AM PT] Joe Magarac: Linux and Windows. No Mac yet.
[11:58 AM PT] Motoko.Karu @login.digiworldz.com:8002: *arrigato*
[11:58 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Linux! Thank you!
[11:58 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Yes, good to see Linux supported in the early days. :)
[11:58 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: no surprise, I'm used to it :)
[11:59 AM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: So no HG TP yet?
[11:59 AM PT] Joe Magarac: It's primarily Linux. The Windows version is built on Linux. 100% safe Rust code.
[12:00 PM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: Joe, I'm working on an issue that involves trying to understand the HG TP protocol.
[12:00 PM PT] Joe Magarac: HG?
[12:00 PM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: So I might want to pick your brain once you start on the TP stuff
[12:00 PM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: hypergrid teleports
[12:00 PM PT] Joe Magarac: I'm "nagle@animats.com".
[12:00 PM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: ok thanks
[12:01 PM PT] Joe Magarac: Yes, want to talk about that. Fall project is tp and region crossings.
[12:02 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Not necessarily in that order I suspect.
[12:02 PM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Both share a lot of calls so makes sense to do it together
[12:03 PM PT] Joe Magarac: Right. Have to go; next meeting starting.
[12:03 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: ok, Joe. See you next week.
[12:03 PM PT] Jamie.Jordan @grid.kitely.com:8002: have a great week yall
[12:04 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: We are at the top of the hour. If there are no last minute questions/comments I will bring todays gathering to a close.
[12:04 PM PT] Ubit Umarov: rl also calling...
[12:05 PM PT] Ubit Umarov: cya ppl
[12:05 PM PT] Kayaker Magic: Buy all!
[12:05 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: ok. That will do it for today. Thank you all for coming. See you again next week.
