From OpenSimulator
[11:01] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002: Andrew, how goes the battle?
[11:01] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org waits for his seat to rez
[11:02] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: The region spun-up great for me today.
[11:06] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: nebadon, everytime I arrive here I get the message "Unable to rez: missing data in asset f7fdfb40-c08a-45df-8685-20050d9d1606"
[11:06] Nebadon Izumi: odd
[11:06] Nebadon Izumi: I don't see that
[11:06] Nebadon Izumi: maybe something you are wearing
[11:06] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I don't know why I would be seeing it.
[11:06] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Perhaps. My pants are white. I don't think they are supposed to be white.
[11:06] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002: I get the "unable to fech profile data at this time" message over and over again, presumably once for each of yyou
[11:07] Nebadon Izumi: ah ya thats a firefox thing I think
[11:07] Nebadon Izumi: with hypergrid
[11:07] Nebadon Izumi: firestorm*
[11:07] Nebadon Izumi: ya I see your pants white too Andrew, probably what it is
[11:07] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: I'm in firestorm but using OSgrid account -- no unknowns for me.
[11:08] George Equus: Same, no errors of any kind today
[11:08] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Oh yes, white pants.
[11:08] Nebadon Izumi: be right back I need to get some water
[11:08] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: pants are there, but no texture.
[11:09] George Equus: Except for my wrist watch that is 15 min late, Usually keep time fine :)
[11:09] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: many people here hosted in Florida? It was quite the week I hear.
[11:11] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I was supposed to be wearing blue jeans. Something must have happened to the item. I see that now and then. It always concerns me when an item seems to go bad. I wonder why and whether it is some form of database error.
[11:12] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: black trousers then.
[11:12] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: yea, easy to make. :)
[11:12] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I don't have texture for blue jeans in this grid.
[11:13] Nebadon Izumi: back, needed coffee too :)
[11:13] George Equus: I lost a great deal of my outfits once, had to import an IAR and replace all "fakes" not showing when wearing. No idea what happened. one day fine, the next all gone
[11:14] Nebadon Izumi: have some jeans :)
[11:14] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org nods to George
[11:15] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I'll have a look at them later.
[11:15] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Doing better now that my week from hell is mostly over.
[11:15] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: =)
[11:16] Nebadon Izumi: James any OSCC Updates
[11:16] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Been moving 3 servers from Windows to Linux. I had to deal with CentOS 7 and systemd in the process.
[11:16] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: weather related @ Andrew?
[11:17] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Ah.
[11:17] Nebadon Izumi: CentOS is definitely hell :)
[11:17] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I also found I had a bad version of OpenSim from git master and also had a version of mono that wasn't working well to run OpenSim.
[11:17] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Neb, the conference organizers have been focused on reviewing presentation proposals - some very nice things coming.
[11:18] Nebadon Izumi: great
[11:18] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002: I submitted a proposal for a talk at OSCC and have not heard back
[11:18] Nebadon Izumi: oh hrmm
[11:18] Nebadon Izumi: let me see if anyone is around there on skype
[11:18] Nebadon Izumi: one moment
[11:19] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002: Then I sent an email "did you get my proposal" and never heard back
[11:19] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Kayaker, they like to wait a little while to allow late submissions, which are coming in too.
[11:19] Nebadon Izumi: ok I am checking in now, you used the name Kayaker Magic?
[11:20] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002: Yup, and my RL avatar's name
[11:20] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: I recall seeing it Kayaker -though I'm not on the selection committee.
[11:21] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: you still play RL? i played it for a long time, not as fun as VR, so i gave it up. lol
[11:21] Nebadon Izumi: Kayaker
[11:21] Nebadon Izumi: the deadline was just Sunday, and we are still waiting this week for a few stragglers. Then we go over everything and start to accept, email them back, etc.. we did list on the site we would let folks know on Oct 23
[11:21] Nebadon Izumi: quote from Joyce
[11:21] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: NIRC - nebadon izumi relay chat :)
[11:21] Nebadon Izumi: so hang in there, emails are coming :)
[11:21] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002: Whew, there was no ACK from the submission page to convince me it got it.
[11:22] Nebadon Izumi: lol
[11:23] Nebadon Izumi: Anyone have anything going on?
[11:23] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org flüstert: don plays RL - cool
[11:23] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: There hasn't been much in the way of new code this past week. Just a few commits.
[11:24] Nebadon Izumi: Ubit just submitted some fixes for PrimLimitsModules
[11:24] Nebadon Izumi: I think Ubit is working in the HTTPtests branch
[11:24] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: I am building a winter xmas wonderland area, with working ice skating, snow skiing and ski lift, might add a toboggan ride as well
[11:24] Nebadon Izumi: he is fixing SSL/TLS stuff
[11:24] Nebadon Izumi: and doesnt want to break master
[11:24] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I was moving to Linux servers this past week and ran in to a bug in OpenSim re: HTTP which may have been due to changes Ubit was making.
[11:24] Nebadon Izumi: Jenkins wont trigger on that branch
[11:24] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I think he did break basic HTTP for a bit.
[11:25] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I'm sticking with code compiled on Sept. 15 for now.
[11:25] Nebadon Izumi: hmm maybe
[11:25] Nebadon Izumi: I am running master git on my regions
[11:25] Nebadon Izumi: did not notice anything unusual
[11:25] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: IIRC, the code I compiled on Oct. 6 had the HTTP bug. OS threw red text during startup.
[11:26] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I also had trouble using mono 4.6 so I've gone back to 4.4 and I haven't noticed any issues with it so far.
[11:26] Nebadon Izumi: yea
[11:26] Nebadon Izumi: 4.4 is probably the safe cutoff at this point
[11:26] Nebadon Izumi: for less adventerous folks
[11:27] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002 flüstert: that worked!
[11:27] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Are Linux servers not typical for OpenSim? Windows?!
[11:27] Nebadon Izumi: Winter is coming...!
[11:27] Nebadon Izumi: all of my servers are Linux
[11:27] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Don, I see enough snow and ice locally. I am not ready to see virtual versions yet.
[11:28] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: :)
[11:28] Nebadon Izumi: all the OSgrid plaza servers are linux as is the back end
[11:28] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: lol
[11:28] Nebadon Izumi: I need to break out the ice skating duck for the fountain out front
[11:28] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: sounds neat to see
[11:28] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I've always been using Linux for the back end servers. Until now I've been using Windows for the region servers.
[11:29] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Oh ok. Interesting.
[11:29] Nebadon Izumi: haha
[11:29] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: nebadon, I remember building a fountain that included an ice skating penguin.
[11:29] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: duck skates on moon. nice
[11:29] Nebadon Izumi: I have a vampire duck for halloween
[11:29] Nebadon Izumi: im jumping the gun
[11:29] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: coming from you neb, i expected to the duck to have animations, and or say stuff.........
[11:30] Nebadon Izumi: haha these are ancient
[11:30] Nebadon Izumi: i still whip em out every year, nostalgia :)
[11:30] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org nods
[11:30] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: just make it occasionally holler "AFLACK"
[11:30] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: =)
[11:30] Nebadon Izumi: the vampire duck has a blood fountain to go with him
[11:30] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org laugs
[11:30] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: +h
[11:31] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Good one, Don
[11:31] Nebadon Izumi: lol
[11:31] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: =)
[11:32] Don.Smith @grid.kitely.com:8002: sometimes we can be so engrossed in our work that we forget to take a second and just laugh at something
[11:33] George Equus: ouch... duck crash
[11:34] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002: I tried to edit the duck and it stopped moving, is that movement all Viewer-side?
[11:34] Nebadon Izumi: yes
[11:34] Nebadon Izumi: there we go, blood fountain out front with vampire duck :)
[11:34] Nebadon Izumi: lol
[11:35] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: So I have a question. I've heard a couple of times that the devs would like help with documentation. Any thoughts on a good way for me to understand how I could help?
[11:35] Nebadon Izumi: well mostly we mean the Wiki
[11:36] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Yeah, that's how I took it.
[11:36] Nebadon Izumi: so basically if you can go through the wiki, look for stuff you understand
[11:36] Nebadon Izumi: and make sure the information is accurate
[11:36] Nebadon Izumi: generally someone is around in IRC should you come accross something you need better explained
[11:36] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Some of the information is from the 0.6.9 days and isn't always marked as such.
[11:37] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: OK thanks.
[11:37] Nebadon Izumi: even if you just point out stuff that doesnt sound or look right
[11:37] Nebadon Izumi: that can be helpful for us to identify and update it
[11:37] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: I was looking for information on firewall settings for OpenSim and the information I found was all geared to standalone mode rather than grid mode, AFAICT
[11:37] Nebadon Izumi: yea there probably is some grid details on that there
[11:38] Nebadon Izumi: maybe just buried
[11:38] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: That is the other problem. Some information is hard to find.
[11:38] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Some information appears in multiple places and should be consolidated.
[11:39] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Ah ok.
[11:40] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: So it would be good to understand the organizational structure.
[11:40] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: One simple thing someone can do is finish adding the new information to the OSSL listings. I updated the template for the OSSL function pages to make a place to add in the permission information and any script delay.
[11:40] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Look at osGetAgents to see an example of the additional information.
[11:40] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: The script delay is in seconds. The permissions is just a copy of the entry from the osslEnable.ini file.
[11:41] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Putting in the default permissions will let people know that just because an OSSL function exists it doesn't mean they can use it.
[11:41] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Scripting_Documentation
[11:42] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/OSSL_Implemented
[11:42] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: oh, and the Threat Level setting can also be added to the function details.
[11:42] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/OsGetAgents
[11:44] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: ok - I'm getting a sense of it. Thank you!
[11:45] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: yw
[11:45] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: So I have another question. Would an OSSL command to change the camera field of view be possible?
[11:46] Kayaker.Magic @grid.kitely.com:8002: aren't there regular LSL calls to do that?
[11:47] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: Not in camparams that I could find.
[11:48] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: But don't mean to occupy this meeting with that. Maybe would be a wiki feature request.
[11:48] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: Kayaker there are a number of OSSL calls that are (mostly) the same as an LSL call. The difference is sometimes one of permissions. You have to read the descriptions carefully for the LSL and OSSL versions of a function to see how they differ.
[11:49] Nebadon Izumi: sorry im decorating for halloween lol
[11:50] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: hehe
[11:50] Nebadon Izumi: look outside
[11:50] Nebadon Izumi: in front of building
[11:50] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: hm... I see water out the window. I don't remember noticing that before.
[11:51] James.atLLOUD @hg.osgrid.org: just a note - in 10 minutes I need to monitor a webcast at work. Will stay and observe, but will be easily distracted.
[11:51] Andrew.Hellershanks @hg.osgrid.org: ok. I think we will be wrapping it up around then unless someone has something else they wish to discuss.
