[Opensim-users] HyperGrid Issues

Okay with FQDN through dyndns it appears to affect some but not all. For
example when using our dyndns FQDN url it actually doesn't work so we had to
use the external IP given by our ISP provider. It could be a regional
problem though I am not sure.
Also I think Todd misunderstood my meaning about opening port 3306. To
clarify I indicated you likely will need to open it. In theory you should
not need to however in some cases I have found I needed to. In this case
here it sounds like his instance is not able to access the mysql server
either due to the URL which needs to be accessible from the internet or the
port is being blocked. It also may likely just be he needs to give the
computer that has the sql server on it a static IP in his local network.
However Todd is correct that you should never open this port unless you
really need to.
I hope this is of some help.

Looks around the list. Randy I have missed your post about your network
setup? And to correct a prior post. Unless your regions are connecting
to a SQL server outside your network you should never open port 3306 to the
public it makes you SQL server insecure. But Randy if you could share
your network setup in detail please.

Oddly on my grid, I used ExternalHostName = ryukyu.dnsdojo.com It seems to
work just fine. I have 10 test users, one of which calls very often from
Australia, and she connects just fine.
Remeber not to use the Http:// only the rest, and no port number on that
line.
I have never run a secondary machine to access the mysql database, so I
don't know how that effects that.

Subject: [Opensim-users] Example scriipt for Windlight wrong?
Message-ID: <50DD0926.4080607 at gmail.com>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed
It would seem something isn't right about en example script found on :
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/LsGetWindlightScene
I think I have the correct permissions set, because the
lsSetWindlightScene <http://opensimulator.org/wiki/LsSetWindlightScene>
script works fine. I wanted to use the lsGetWindlightScene command, to
use a water color, I selected in the client's windlight settings and
share with other. Using this command should show me what to place in my
scripted item to set the windlight setting number for to get the same
color. Eventually to create a small weather system using windlight for
cloudyness and more. It seems this example won't compile. Any Ideas
why not?
list rules_to_get =[ WL_WATER_COLOR];
list settings;
default {
state_entry() {
settings =[[lsGetWindlightScene]](rules_to_get);
llOwnerSay("Water color is:"+llList2String(settings,1));
}
}
thanks for your time.
