[Opensim-users] Problem with tp to one of my var regions

Ubit,
After some intensive testing today by myself and one other resident It has
been determined the problem is NOT with Nudist Island but rather with
Sanctuary. If I stop going to
Sanctuary and use any of my other regions everything works perfectly. Poor
Nudist Island got a bad rap with me thinking it was the culprit.
I never see those negative position coordinates unless Sanctuary is involved
with the tp.
However we have confirmed something is wrong with the setting of a landing
point in opensim as it is very strange how it does and doesn't work using
the different combinations of clicking on the map to go to a location vs
using the defined landing point in the metrics area of the map and using the
TP button and on using a region name to login directly to a region.
It appears that the region.ini file setting of the landing point does
nothing and the about land setting is used only sometimes. You have a
better chance of ending up at 128,128,22 than any place else and it does now
matter where you are trying to come from. It is just as sporadic departing
from LBSA as it is any other region.
On the normal older style regions, non-var' it works just fine in our
testing.
I've kind of run out of time today as it's time to get ready to go out to
dinner now, but I know I need to look very carefully at all the
configurations files and parcel settings for Sanctuary.
It is when it facters into the tp that things go very wrong.
I did have some problems making that var because I forced an overlap of the
two regions that make up the var. I thought adding one at a time and
changing the parcels boundaries so there was no overlap would work, but now
I think that could be what the cause is. The Sanctuary var has three
parcels. The one that makes up the entire 4 blocks, and then two smaller
ones called Sanctuary and Hidden Gem. I thin changed the name of the large
primary one to be TSim. I bet something in that process did not achieve
what I thought it would.
I am going to try you suggestion on Sanctuary and see what it looks like.
Thanks very much for the help. I'll follow up here with what I find so if
others try doing something like this they can avoid what I ran into.

Ok
On console do "land show"
See if values make sense.
If not take note of relevant settings and do land clear and restore the
settings.
Again, im only guessing, can be something else

Ubit,
I am not clear on what you are suggesting. I really can't use the old OAR
any longer because there has been a fair amount of work done on the region
as a var. It has been running for about a month as a var and I do nightly
backups of making a new oar and doing a database backup. The estate
database is not combined with the region database, they are two different
databases. I did the join to the estate which is shared with the other
regions running on this server and it picked it up right away without me
having to type anything in.
I have made another 2 by 2 var doing the same thing from my home region
"Sanctuary" which does not have this problem. It was made with a slightly
different offset because I put two regions together and they are centered in
the 2 by 2 left to right but only shifted 50 meters into the center top to
bottom so they would not overlap. When I did Sanctuary I did them one at a
time, and resized the parcel on the first merged region then added the
second region which now did not overlap the first in it's parcel size.
On nudist Island there is only one region so I did not do anything with the
parcel size since it does not overlap anything.
I could try making the entire var one single parcel, could that maybe be the
cause of the negative position vectors?
I'm not clear on what you mean by a "master" and a join. That sounds like
you are talking about the parcel's and using the terrain join. I will see
if combining the two existing parcels into just one helps.
I could also do a load oar of last nights oar to see if that fixes the
issue. I have not tried doing either of those two things yet. Something
isn't right for sure. I have not had any complaints from other users and I
see the normal activity from both HG visitors and OSgrid visitors to the
region.
The only complaint I have received about Nudist Island was from an HG
visitor who said they thought the terrain textures were corrupt because they
cleared their viewer cache and then the terrain textures did not look right
anymore. I do not understand that because I use the default terrain
textures on most of my regions so I cleared my viewer cache and tried to see
if it looked different. It did not. I asked a few of the other visitors
and they said everything looked normal. I suspect that was an issue with
that particular visitor maybe just experiencing a slow load of the textures.

Hi
Can only guess, but the load of the oar is something specific on that
region.
The parcel information may be wrong.
Can you try creating a new one then join having the new one as "master"?

Subject: [Opensim-users] Problem with tp to one of my var regions
I am experiencing a very strange problem trying to get to one of my var
regions. I run several and only one is giving me a very unusual problem.
If I login to the region using a direct login by region name I get to it
just fine, but if I try to use the map or an LM the viewer closes because of
a disconnect caused by a timeout from my opensim instance.
When I do arrive, I do not arrive at the landing point but rather I land at
<128, 128, 22>
I have the landing point set in about land to be <211, 188, 24> I also have
this in the region ini file:
DefaultLanding = <211,188,24>
The only thing I see that does not look right to me in the log file is the
following:
2017-08-10 21:49:37,432 DEBUG [SCENE]: Adding new child scene presence Slow
Putzo 51ea2036-6c57-817f-7716-59dd5329f7f7 to scene Nudist Island at pos

WARN [LLUDPSERVER]: No packets received from root agent of Slow Putzo for
60000ms in Nudist Island. Disconnecting.
Notice the negative coordinates in the pos. How can the coordinates be a
negative number? This is a 2 by 2 var, but all the LM’s for it show
positive coordinates.
The direct login entry looks like this:
2017-08-10 21:57:32,548 DEBUG [SCENE]: Adding new child scene presence Slow
Putzo 51ea2036-6c57-817f-7716-59dd5329f7f7 to scene Nudist Island at pos
<128, 128, 0>, tpflags: ViaLogin, ViaRegionID
Things I have tried:
Several different versions of opensim including the latest released by
OSgrid.
Moving the region to one of my other servers (made no difference at all)
Purged the region from OSgrid using the web site. (made no difference at
all) Tried a different viewer. (made no difference) go to LBSA and use the
map to go to this region. (almost works) go to LBSA and use a failing LM to
go to this region. (almost works) 2017-08-10 22:28:59,723 DEBUG [SCENE]:

22:33:06,207 WARN [LLUDPSERVER]: No packets received from root agent of

Now before you say something is wrong with my local network, I run several
regions. I have verified the settings in their ini files and this one
problem region is identical, other than the port number.
Other regions running on the exact same server do not have this problem.
I presently run my home region on my bandit1 server and I run TSim 1 and
Nudist Island on my bandit2 server.
I am able to tp back and forth from my home region to TSim 1 all day with
only an occasional issue, but I am not able to tp back and forth to Nudist
Island from my home region at all.
The paths are identical between the two examples and the only difference is
the port numbers of the two regions. They are even running identical
opensim versions.
I have looked over the different ini files and can see no differences other
than things that should be different like the size parameters in the
region.ini file and the name and uuid etc.
What could possible be causing this issue? What configuration file or other
parameter could be causing this?
At first I thought it might be some strange loopback issue, but I am running
a supported router which supports NAT loopback, the Linksys WRT1200AC V2.
It has been running now for almost a year. Just to be sure, I did a hard
reset to factory defaults and completely reconfigured it from scratch. That
made no difference.
This problem showed up shortly after I converted Nudist Island from a
standard region to become a 2 by 2 VAR with the original region placed at an
offset to be the center of the 2 by 2 new region. Initially after the
change everything was fine as best I remember.
The load oar I used was:
load oar
/backup/OSG-Nudist-Island/OAR/Nudist-Island_20170617-1443.oar --displacement
"<128,128,0>" --merge --force-terrain --force-parcels
I am reasonably convinced the problem is caused by the negative position
coordinate's. Where do these come from? My server, or an OSgrid server?
I am out of ideas and sure could use some new ones to hunt down.
