Hi Tom,
The occulus and CltlAtlViewer stuff is just purely experimental. Very much
early phases of my work in progress, I only wanted to find out if it is
doable when the market warms up to the idea complete immersion.
The first version of the Rift is not without problems for me, it is very
easy to get cybersick. I am told Valve has solved the cybersickness problem
and people immersed for hours report no unpleasant feelings such as nausea,
headaches etc.. the next version of the Rift is also supposed to be better.
We'll see how it goes. But for now am just focused on the foundational
content design strategy. You know get simple things right first ...in any
case, there is certainly a lot of issues that will come up that will have
to be dealt with (regarding scale of things when immersed vs when not
immersed) ... one virtual world cannot work well in both modes, and
designers will have to find a way to automatically adjust scale for various
situations in order to optimize usability.
