Here is a excerpt from just one email thread back :
 
When you save an OAR and use the "--profile" option, the resulting XML
contains an additional field for each item: "CreatorData". This field
contains the URL of your site's profile server (which isn't actually used,
so it can be anything), and the creator's name.

When you load an OAR that contains this information:

1. If the creator's UUID exists on the grid then it's used.

2. Otherwise, if a user with the same *name* as the creator exists then that
user's UUID is used.

3. Otherwise, the importing user becomes the creator (this is the most
common outcome).

Next time, a good idea is to give your email subject a more "talking" name
or people may/will not read it. :-)

Please allow me to post to the OS Grid tech list the following question:

 

Question about UUIDs

 

Assume I save a region to an OAR file. 

Then, I Import the OAR to a new region on SAME GRID

                Upon import, what happens to the UUIDS? Changed? Remain the
same?

 

Then, I Import the OAR to a new region on a DIFFERENT GRID

                Upon import, what happens to the UUIDS? Changed? Remain the
same?

 

Same for IAR files?
