Thanks!  Now I'm split between falling back to 32 bit or giving ubuntu a whirl...but will likely fall back to 32bits though with that warning. This is a mini-pc (Acer L100) that I thought would be perfect for a low power, always on server ..and for playing with opensim...I suppose I shouldn't push too hard as I have only 1gb of RAM now and can only go to 2GB.

Your comments and suggestions were all appreciated.

Damn those 64 bit numbers! They use twice as much memory!

FYI - runs fine on a core 2 quad w/ 8GB of RAM.. and that 8GB of DDR2
was $300 3 months ago... probably cheaper now.
