[Opensim-users] Problems with StandAlone and Grid Mode

StandAlone
----------------
I am able to use the StandAlone region server by entering my External IP,
and then
building, but there are some anomolies:
(1) Prim attributes do not appear to be saved: changing a prim to
"Physical" or
"Phantom", for example is not saved after I quit from the OpenSim
server
and then log back in.
(2) How does one change the owner from "Test User" to something else?
(3) Is there a way to delete a user? I didn't see this in the help menu for
the OpenSim server
(4) Avatar characteristics once changes from Ruth are not saved. How can
they be saved
from one session to the next?
Grid Mode
---------------
I downloaded MySQL since apparently this is required for running a grid.
So, I have MySQL
running, and a successful root password for MySQL, but when I try the first
step in:
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Configuration
I try first launching "OpenSim.Grid.UserServer.exe and get:
"Using obsoletely mysql_connection.ini, try using user_source connect string
instead" and
then this program crashes.
Before this, I looked over the instructions in:
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Mysql-config (which is highly confusing since
there are
warnings saying "This article or section contains obsolete and possibly
misleading
information" :_)
and was not sure exactly what I needed to do with MySQL prior to launching
the Grid
service programs. I used the "mysql" command line and created an "opensim"
db,
but the "source ....." commands didn't work. Are they necessary?
..............
Thanks for any clues on the above. I'd like to try to get a grid going, but
seem stuck at
square one.
