[Opensim-dev] Running OpenSim in the background

You'd think with all the service Robustification this would be done.
Other than the console there's no obvious reason you shouldn't be able
to start opensim as a background process.   I'd argued a while back for
an XMLRPC based "console" but that got shot down pretty quickly by a few
folks, though there were a few that liked the idea.   IMO the missing
piece is a replacement for the console that uses a secure-able protocol.
Then the "console" could be in  a seperate process and accessed when
needed rather than running all the time.

Given the long term rules about access to client sources and
restrictions on contributions I can't do this but it shouldn't be hard
to do.  Maybe consider this a feature request for a future release...
