[Opensim-dev] Is there Area-of-interest in information from server to client?

In some tests conducted in opensim, I noticed that the avatars constantly
exchange information about their position even when they are away from each
other. In Second Life there is an area of interest (circle) around the
avatar that determines when exchanging information. In opensim this is
configurable?
