In standalone mode there is a "annoymous mode" which basically means that there isn't any checks of passwords done, and if someone tries to sign on using a account (user name) that doesn't exist, then a new account is automatically created for it.

But there currently isn't any support for deleting the accounts after the user logs off. So if someone logged in using "Test User", then created some things in their inventory, the next user to sign in with that name would have the same inventory. Although I wouldn't think it would be too hard to add support for auto deleting accounts.

However this is currently only implemented in standalone mode and not grid mode.

Let's assume we set up a server and
use it - let's call it - a showroom. This server would be accessable
through the internet, so anybody could connect to it. Now it would be
annoying to create new accounts anytime we want to show the content of
our showroom to somebody, so we say: with login "guest" and password
"guest" anybody can connect anytime to the server, can walk through the
region but can do nothing else. So far, so good - no trouble until
here. But it may be possible 2 or more person use this login at the
same time. So the idea is to create temporary accounts on demand
(guest1, guest2, ...) and delete them afterwards. Is this possible or
are there restrictions in the login process, which can not be bypassed.

user database and a sql trigger to reset them on log out.
