Why would you put a client component with the server code?
It seems to me no easier to download the file with openssim server code,
and copy it to the correct place for the viewer to use, than to download
it from anywhere else.

That sounds very sensible, Hippo being the Opensim friendly version of
the Linden client.

Realxtend is free software &/ open source, you can basically use
anything we have made here in any way you want, and it should make us
happy 'cause that's why it was made :)
IIRC the slvoice replacement made within Rex (more than a year ago) uses
the Speex codec, dunno if the server part is a part of modrex already or
how it goes (haven't followed modrex too closely now, being more
involved in the new viewer work).

Have they actually accepted patches? I haven't followed their client dev
at all. Anyhow sounds like a good effort to try.
