Have you seen market research which suggests photorealism makes for a better
business case? If not, I wouldn't assume that this is the case. The research
that I've heard of suggests that attempting photo-realism can actually
detract from the usability of a virtual world. If users expect photo-realism
they are actually distracted by inconsistencies rather than being focussed
on the task in hand.

I can think of better uses of all that processing power.
