Unfortunately it's a bit more complex than just changing the 256's to 
512's. There's things like packet MTU details to fit in as well. (IE 
several SL packets 'barely fit' into the UDP packet MTU)

That being said, I think you will find most of the limits to be in Scene 
- things like border crossing and terrain will rely on the size of the 
region being fixed.
