hello
firstly, please note that this is my own utopist opinion as a human beeing and not as a grid manager.

the idea looks fine but this can be thinked to be universal.
instead of making an association, maybe there can be a working group or club without necessarily having an administrative entity.
an association is managed by a country law (often usa) and other countries citizens do not have to depend on this.
an association is managed by few entities deciding who would be accepted or rejected and im pretty sure that commercial grids would not agree to share with little entities that can grow to compete with them (i can dream anyway).
so in the end, this association could be turned into a closed club made by commercial grid owners making a pressure to devs (if people want this, they can make a fork and then pay devs to give them what they need).

OpenSimulator ecosystem is already existing with the irc channels, mailing lists, wiki, etc... these tools are maintained by Overte and OsGrid members so maybe we can think about a solution using these tools with them ?

maybe there can be a club, free to join, that is organizing monthly meetings on a grid (like hgac did) and using a place on the OpenSimulator wiki to exchange ideas ?

i would like you to note some things :
- virtual worlds and online communities are composed with devs and users (owners are just servants even if some can become rich) (no dev = no techno / no user = no world)
- OpenSimulator users are composed with : creators, educators, visitors, devs and business entrepreneurs so please, keep in mind that entrepreneurs are just a specie of actors and not the main engine of the system so everyone can have the ability to exchange.

so this association idea can be a good idea if all the actors are concerned in an equal level and if this is universal and decentralized without any owner and please do not make an entity made to promote inworld currencies and dmca laws because not everyone is interested about this (think universal).

if you have the power to gather people around an idea, do it but in an altruist point of view.

2014-10-20 23:49 GMT+02:00 Butch Arnold <butch.arnold@3rdrockgrid.com>:

Hello All,
I apologize if this post seems inappropriate.
It is not meant to be an advertisement per se, but I think many of the users of this list may be interested and I wanted to reach as many OpenSim users as I could.
