I admit, Win7 has me pretty pleased. It also helped that my favorite laptop which came with Vista and will NOT run XP at all no matter what I tried, will install Win7 from a clean setup and detects every single item except for the motion sensor on the hard drive. That blew my mind - being the first version of Windows that essentially knows 100% of my hardware without needing additional drivers. And the one thing that does require a driver is an integrated part of the hard drive and not the system - so when I upgrade to a larger hard drive soon then installing Win7 will detect 100% of the hardware.<br>
<br>For those curious, it's an HP Pavilion 12" netbook I got at Wal-Mart. It runs OS beautifully but I'm a bit upset it does not include a page up and page down key. So in order to fly around in OS I have to click the "fly" shortcut, go into mouse-look and then use the arrow keeps to fly around. But only if I'm really inclined to run OS on it, which isn't very often.<br>

I like MAC myself.. But I love Linux even more.. However when Windows 7 came out I realized it is the first windows I actually can deal with. Its still bloatware, but its stable as hell. ( Yes for you who are about to scream and yell at me for using windows, I hated windows until Win7 came out, but I would never ever run my OpenSims on Windows. Windows was never meant to be a server I don't care what people think. )<div>

Right on!<br><br>A combination of TrueCrypt and VMWare 7.0.1 running Windows XP Pro is my standard play platform. Encrypted and self-contained, deleting it and replacing it is a sweet way to dork around with things and not worry about hosing my computers.<br>

I run my business accounting software under Win 2K in a virtual machine mostly because Quickbooks won't run under wine and I can't get GNUcash to access my bank!.<br>
<br>
I was gratified to find out that a VM with different host and virtual OSes is one of the most secure environments there are these days. It makes building a root kit or a virus an enormously complicated task!<br>
<br>
In addition it is very straightforward to encrypt the entire VM leaving no traces of cache files etc. around.<br>
