I'm not sure what you mean by this, you will have to be much more detailed.

Unfortunately, there has not been. I have actually just added a section to the database settings OpenSimulator wiki
page [1] which at least talks about the max_allowed_packet setting, which can cause problems if set too low (or left at
the default). But I've never actually changed this myself so any additions from other people are welcome.

The problems you will likely encounter are that 100 regions is a lot of regions to run on one process (splitting up
across many processes can help). Also, region crossings are fairly shaky. This can be avoided with a megaregion but
that in itself has some trade offs since it's a hack (albeit a clever one) that isn't officially supported by viewers
(I'm not aware of any TPV work which has changed this - variable regions are something different).
