Hi Sharon,
The opensim-users list tends to stick to the topics of
installing/supporting/using opensim with little side discussion permitted
so that developers and those doing user support can focus on those who need
help.
If you aren't already subscribed, however, we created an education-focused
opensim listserv specifically to house these kinds of broader
conversations:
http://list.opensim-edu.org/listinfo.cgi/education-opensim-edu.org
And I'd remind moderators and community members of this list that, with the
conference approaching, we're likely to see many new sign-ups in the coming
weeks, so please remember that there are good, welcoming, polite ways to
inform new users of the norms and expectations without being brusque. If
we're going to try to grow the community and encourage people to try
Opensim, we have to be prepared to welcome them and help them learn the
ropes.
Sincerely,
- Chris/Fleep

Though I'd remind moderators and community members that there are polite
ways to tell people that and redirect
