Hi Scott,
You may want to review this thread from when I was experiencing similar
error messages, it includes a couple of posts from Justin and others that
were very helpful in understanding memory limitations of Opensim:

For me the solution was to split the simulators across multiple opensim
processes (I'm running in grid mode) and eventually upgrading to 0.7.3
which supports 64 bit OS. I have some notes that may be of use if you plan
