Believe me, don't modify the new avatar outfit! If you replace it by a manly and athletic avatar with a bushy mustache that will satisfy you for your first login. But if the next person who will create a new avatar is a charming lady, she will be very surprised to have been created with a mustache and big biceps!! Ruth is all that is in the creation of 3D human by default in Blender and other 3D software (just now I've tested DAZ-3D and found the same)
A better way is to give to your users the possibility to choose an avatar according to their desires, Diva Distro has a better example I tested (male, female and neutral). After a few tries we obtain good results
Expanding the database of OpenSim could be a trap because then you will have to modify a viewer for testing it and then again you will have to convince all viewer developers including LL to normalize the change. :)))

Subject: Re: [Opensim-users] About Changing sex of Avatars
I opened a demo user in my system.
When i create a new avatar, it becomes a female and i cant change the settings of it on Imprudence or Hippo. I just wonder that, if the database has a block for me to change gender. For example:
dbname : opensim ,--- table: avatar --- columnname: gender
column data: 1

Is there any data like that i asked.
