I have not seen a increase in processing speed and overall performance by
updating only mysql. (For me was a natural security update fixin bug from
previous versions.)
If you want a higher performance what does produce a significant improvement
in performance is especially enough memory and speed of access to hard
drives.

(I detect somed little problems in performance on Flotsam Caché when the
hard disk was "old" but now is perfect for me in the SSDs Hard Disk.)
