[Opensim-users] OpenSim Mesh Testing, LOD and MySQL max_allowed_packet

Great info, Ai - it sounds like meshes can be extremely large assets.

I'm guessing the asset you uploaded probably still worked because it was put in the local server asset cache.

Unfortunately, it sounds like lifting this mysql might have to be common advice, short of providing an option which 
persists assets in the filesystem rather than as blobs in the database.

There is a patch from kcozens which did some work on this topic (http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view.php?id=5429) but 
this has not progressed much yet.
