yes, may it a good thing to backup everything  and setup a clean opensim and
put everything back. 
also keep settings in .example files as much as possible and not try to
boost everything (witch could
give you a bad result instead of good)... 

Also do some research on how to keep everything running smoothly.
if someone has a wiki or blog about this let me know, i can go trough it.
