I built Mono from source and can now sometimes load oars, but at the
cost of reducing the number of regions on the server drastically. Even
then, it still crashes from time to time. Here are some examples of
error messages ...
[oar not loading - lots of stuf along the following lines]

The latter is a known Mono problem: to quote someone in a Mono forum:
"It means something in the runtime has lost track of its handles and
is
attempting to CloseHandle more times than the handle was opened." That
means very little to me, of course ;-)
