[Opensim-users] Awaiting region handshake

The differences between a "standalone" and "grid" are simply that in a standalone all server functions are provided by the OpenSim.exe server, whereas with a grid the regions are served by the OpenSim.exe server while all other services (grid, identity, assets etc etc) are served by Robust.exe.
This just means that the server load can be spread out over different servers in grid mode. Also with grid mode, other OpenSim.exe servers can register their regions with your robust.exe server adding their regions to your grid, whereas with standalone, the only regions that can be part of your grid are the ones it itself is serving.
Others can visit your opensim no matter if it is grid or standalone. From the outside there is no difference - its only a difference in how the services for opensim are provided on the backend.

I believe you can create as many regions as you like in a standalone but you are the only person that can go there I have created both and to have other ppl come to visit you need to be a grid

Thanks Gunther, but I'm installing a new router this weekend which should resolve the issue.
While I wait, is there a page somewhere that explains the differences between standalone and grid?
I'm guessing standalone is limited to a single region?

Have you tried it without dyndns. its sometimes buggy and keep wrong ip.
Or the world get the wrong ip if the resolv your dyndns.
So replace your dyndns lines for the right ip's and see if that helps.
Region handshake problems is almost always the problem with wrong ip, Or wrong internel ip in the ini file.
have you set InternalAddress to 0.0.0.0 ?
