[Opensim-users] Ubuntu installation problem (Region handshake issue)

Tried installing a copy of opensim on Ubuntu using the
opensim-0.6.6-release for
Linux. I have Mono 2.4 installed and the installation using
runprebuild.sh and nant
went smoothly. I verified that the Ubuntu server has port 9000 open
through a web port
check tool. When I use different viewers to log into the server, I can
see that the
opensim console is active and successfully authenticates my user. I
don't see any errors
in the console window. The console text ends with "XMLRPC Authentication of
user Admin User successful. Sending response to the client."

However, the viewer client hangs after

Waiting for Region Handshake .... followed by

"we are having trouble connecting"

In the past, I would have assumed this to be a port problem. The
bins\Region.ini
file looks fine (9000 is specified as the port with the correct external
IP host name).
Does anyone see something I am missing?
