[Opensim-users] Anyone running OpenSim on Amazon EC2?

I wonder how he tested the peak power?
I actually thought about EC2 mostly because of the availability of High CPU instances (I don't know if they were available when Phil tested it).
One of the obvious business cases (among others) would be to host virtual conferences in a 'private' OpenSim network. The company I work for is testing this for its customers as a part of the R&D activities. In this conferencing scenario you'd need some power, but only for a limited time, something that EC2 seems perfect for. Obviously the scalability still is to be provided by the software, that's why I think that in the future different service (for example messaging services) could be provided as webservices and thus be hosted on different instances. Of course there's some miles to go there.
My test were just small proof of concepts. To do proper testing we need more time and - at some time soon - funding. In the meantime I am working on proposals for some german or EU research projects which we might launch.

Hi,
A few month ago, when I met Philip Rosedale in Paris, he told me he
tried to run Second Life on EC2.
He didn't keep that as a solution because of the lack of peak power
EC2 can provide.
Did you do some benchmarrk with OpenSim on EC2 ?
