<div class="moz-cite-prefix">I had some time yesterday and today to
do a bit of maintenance to the Metaverse Ink Search engine.
Specifically, I made it compatible with what the viewers expect a
search query to look like. So if you want to use it as the search
provider for the users of your virtual world, simply give the
following SearchURL to the viewer as login parameter:<br>
<br>
[LoginService]<br>
...<br>
SearchURL =
<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="http://search.metaverseink.com/opensim/results.jsp?">"http://search.metaverseink.com/opensim/results.jsp?"</a><br>
<br>
This will bring up MISearch when users click the "Search" button.<br>
<br>
As before, if you want to index the searchable content of your
virtual world with MISearch, that is done under the DataSnapshot
section of the configuration, something like this:<br>
<br>
[DataSnapshot]<br>
index_sims = true<br>
data_exposure = minimum<br>
<br>
; 1 hour<br>
default_snapshot_period = 3600<br>
<br>
snapshot_cache_directory = "DataSnapshot"<br>
data_services=<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="http://metaverseink.com/cgi-bin/register.py">"http://metaverseink.com/cgi-bin/register.py"</a><br>
<br>
Note that the data_services variable is capable of taking a
semi-colon-delimited list of services, so it is possible to index
your virtual world with several services, e.g. a local search
service provided by ossearch and global search service like
MISearch.<br>
<br>
Also note that, for the time being, MISearch is designed for the
Hypergrid, so if your virtual world is not HG-enabled, it doesn't
make sense to index it with MISearch. This may change in the
future, but that's how it works now.<br>
<br>
There's 700 sims up&running and registered with MISearch as of
this morning. The MISearch engine refreshes the data every 6
hours.<br>

</span> Thanks for the metaverseink URL. I know
about the ossearch module as I have been
maintaining it for a while. I know the objects
database table is being populated. The missing
piece is a web based tool (ie. PHP file) that
will let someone perform a search.<br>
<br>
If their is module code or web based code at
that metaverse site I will look at it to see
what if it just needs some minor updates to get
it working (again).<br>
