I personally could help update it if anyone felt the need to update it - I had a look around the code a couple of weeks ago and noticed how far it has lagged behind the rest. If there is demand I'll step forward... just a case of asking if anyone really wants it given the depth of support for MySQL and Postgres - both of which are cross-platform.

On Tue, Nov 18, 2014 at 8:42 PM, <verwijs.pc@gmail.com> wrote:

I hope someone comes forward to maintain the MSSQL code, I REALY liked working with it ... it gives a good alternative in MS_Windows for MySQL. Like on linux you have PostgreSQL (Witch is great!!) and MySQL. It just a matter of witch database is best suitable for opensimulator and features yet to come ....

MSSQL support was added to OpenSimulator many years ago. However, for more than 2 years, the only updates it has
received are from core developers who don't use it and so who very likely don't test it (I'm certainly one of those).
Indeed, as far as I know nobody on the OpenSim core team uses MSSQL.

We are now at the point where a number of new facilities (e.g. bundled groups, offline IM) have no MSSQL implementation
and bugs go unfixed.

Therefore, I propose to remove MSSQL support for now unless someone steps forward to commit to implementing the missing
functionality and fix MSSQL mantis bugs in a reasonable time frame. They also need to remain on hand to address any
security issues that arise in the future, which is the thing that scares me most where no core dev uses a functionality.

Even if the MSSQL adaptor is removed, if someone does step forward to support it in the future then it can be added back.
