I have a question or two about this too Diva :D

First one is, can this be used to 'map' to the linden grid?

Second is, does one need to get a region on the originating grid and 'dedicate it' to the link? does it require an actual running copy of opensim on the 'gateway' region? (thinking in terms of resource overhead here)

Thanks for this killer work!

Cheers
James

On Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 10:14 AM, Charles Krinke <cfk@pacbell.net> wrote:
Hi,

There is a *very extremely experimental* hypergrid link between OSGrid
and the UCIGrid and vice-versa. Anyone with an OSGrid account can travel
back & forth. Come as Ruthed as possible, because prim crossing is still
not supported. The link will last until one of the regions crashes.

1 - Login to OSGrid, into a region called "UCI Welcome".
2 - On that region, pull up the map and search for ucigrid. The UCIGrid
Gateway (the hyperlink) will only be visible on this region.
3 - Teleport there. This may be slow, be patient.
4 - Once there, leave a message on a prim! Don't try to TP to the other
regions on the UCIGrid, unless you want to crash.
5 - To get back to OSGrid, pull up the map and locate "OSGrid Gateway".
Teleport. You're back, hopefully in one piece!

Crista / Diva

_______________________________________________
Opensim-dev mailing list
