Great, I'm glad that worked. If you still have the default "dome island" terrain, you may also want to try flattening the whole region to give you more land to walk around on and create prims on. You can flatten a region pretty easily. Just follow the steps here: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Tweaking

As far as region complexity and avatar load on my server, to be honest I only have my one avatar and very limited building and scripts running. Subjectively, everything runs very smoothly. I am running Ubuntu Hardy on an Inspiron 530, Intel Quad Core2 Q9300 @ 2.50GHz, with 2GB RAM. I also recently got server and client running in Ubuntu Hardy on my new Asus N10J-A1, and it runs remarkably smooth as silk. Still no sound on my Asus, but that's another story I won't get into. ;-)

Thanks, that did the trick. The setup runs well in a Linux vserver
guest (debian, amd64, same on host), with minimal resource requirements:

Thanks. I guess I should running 1-4 regions/vserver, in order
to minimize address space waste. I presume the canonical way is to
run your own grid.

With 4 regions/physical host how much resources (CPU, memory) requirements do you see
for your region complexity and avatar load?
