You can place a proxy in front of your services. OSGrid does that, and 
so do other grids.

Note that the URL that you decide upon will be extremely important. 
Users and worlds are identified by domain names, or more specifically, 
authorities (domain:port). So if you start with one authority and then 
change to another it will effectively be considered a different world 
from the first -- just like the rest of the Internet does wrt authorities.
