Dear list,
I hardly ever post (im not an opensim developer so to speak), but in this
case I'd like to give my €0,02 worth ;)
@Justin
Can't we do the data de-duplication on a database level? Eg find the
duplicates and just get rid of them on a regular interval (cron)?
Or just migrate to a db schema to include hashing support making it easier
to identify?
Couldn't you manage it as a plugin for the current asset service to perform
data de-duplication on the fly?
Just a few suggestions...
And when it comes to space, there's plenty options available. I'd love to
see some support for Hadoop HDFS/HBase. There must be some way to leverage
the scalability of the data using some BigTable implementation right? Is
No-SQL an option? Cassandra seems to scale nicely :)
This could take OpenSim to a whole new level.
Still, 30% is a lot...
Sincerely,
Rory Slegtenhorst
