You're arguing a moot point. You can do whatever you like in your
local grid. This is for remote grids and they CAN'T look up and
re-resolve the display name each time a prim is selected, bought,
sold, impoted or exported, and they MUST have a way to determine a
name to display even if the original grid doesn't exist anymore.

Also, upon initial export, YOUR grid has the chance to format that
URL/name thing as YOU like others to see users from your grid.

That is the degree of freedom you have. You can NOT mandata that all
grids must hit your grid each time they want to display the name,
and you can NOT guarantee your grid will exist longer then all
objects exported from it.

Not providing displayable information is just not an option.
