As a suggestion, the [image:
Image:PoweredByOpenSimulator.png]<http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Image:PoweredByOpenSimulator.png>image
might be added to the wifi welcome and splash screens in a way that
shows an example of the intended and correct use. This would not only help
educate users, but doing so establishes an "informal trademark".
Another thought is the possibility of making one or more of these images an
official registered trademark of the project.
Registering a trademark is not hard to do, but registration would eliminate
some potential abuses as "cybersqautting". For example this would be where
someone decides to use a close variant of the name/logo in a malicious or
confusing way such as registering the domain name "OpenSimulator.com"
(rather than .org) or even "ImprovedOpenSimulator.com".
The standard for a trademark is "possibility of confusion", the standard for
copyright (including BSD) is a "literal copy" or "derived work" which is
much narrower.
