Thanks a lot for your hints. The idea with the "anonymous mode" sounds nice.
We will have a deeper look at this issue and try to find a solution. If it
is usable, we will share it with you ;).

are you talking about your own opensim region on a local system or one
of the systems that are hosted?
I guess in theory you could have pre-setup anonymous avatars in the
user database and a sql trigger to reset them on log out.
