Certainly not a fork! As I said, the modularity of OpenSim is so good
that it allows for lots of different extensions to co-exist without
conflict whatsoever. It's a wonderland for experimentation!
Since there seems to be a lot of interest to bring hypergrid to the
core, I would suggest the following course of action:
1 - Let's refactor a couple of things in the core, so that it is easier
to plug-in the hypergrid package and the OGP package as well.
2 - Let's continue to develop the hypergrid package separately until all
the pieces are in place. (Help welcome!!!)
3 - Once things are more or less stable, let's revisit the idea of
moving it to the core.
That way, this effort of innovation won't conflict with the very
important effort of stabilization of the core.
By "hypergrid package" I mean all the pieces for interoperability,
including the management of foreign users, access to their inventories, etc.
If the core developers have other suggestions, I'll go by them.
