While I'm not really against it, and it should be a pretty easy move of
those functions, it still doesn't feel right to me that Profile and
Appearance are in different places, and that I'd have to dupe my profile
and friends lists and pictures into 2 servers. It almost feels like
what we really need is UAI to all be able to be taken off as a chunck.

Can I ask for the first step to actually be something different (though
towards the same goal), which is letting asset and inventory servers be
a list (specified in OpenSim.ini)? I think that until we know we've got
a good solution there for dealing with cross site get/add/remove/update,
any work moving user appearance storage just convolutes things with no
real gain.

There is no silver bullet. Plus, werewolves make better neighbors
than zombies, and they tend to keep the vampire population down.
