Yes, I did that some time ago. I used an available plain Debian image as 
a start, and compiled mono and opensim.
Worked like a charm. :-)

But I don't keep it running, too expensive to run 24/7 just as a hobby. 
So it is sleeping somewhere on S3... :-)
