It appears to follow a centralized model. In that single regard, it'll 
mainly be another social chat system.

Opensim's decentralized features allows for custom servers, which can be 
programmed to do events beyond a centralized model.

One thing Google got right, though, is to make an easy plug-in to the 
browser to connect and get started.
