Just increase the interface version number in OpenSim.Framework.VersionInfo, Diva.  This is exactly the kind of 
situation for which is was introduced.

Sure, it's a little crude (as we discussed, it encompasses both grid <-> sim and sim <-> sim interfaces), but it's much 
better than having to make lots of irc/mailing list announcements and still have confusion anyway.  We have had this 
situation before.

People with sims on grids which follow head closely (such as OSGrid) have to expect to update their regions fairly 
often.  During periods of rapid comms evolution, many such upgrades will be required.
