Doesn't the patch still apply?  I seem to vaguely remember trying to apply it succesfully though that might be a mental 
phantom.  Of course, it may also have decayed.

The biggest issue to me here seems to be user education as to why the terrain map they happily loaded yesterday or in 
the last release no longer works, depending on how much you worry about that kind of thing.
