Summary | 0008451: Meshes are randomly failing to load
Description | In the past couple weeks or so on master (Between commits b240de and 4cfcf8); Meshes seem to be randomly failing to load especially where switching outfits and attachments are concerned. The issue doesn't necessarily appear immediately as I have found that things will usually work for a bit; But if left alone for a while idling and then switch to another outfit that contains mesh random parts of the mesh won't load and will display the pyramid icon (sometimes multiple icons) where the mesh should be that suggests a broken mesh. But I know that these aren't broken meshes because they have previously worked just fine and I can clear my viewer cache and run 'fcache clear' in the console then relog and those meshes will show up fine... For a while until I switch outfits again later and it happens again. I have also seen this happen to mesh objects rezzed in world but it is a bit more uncommon than mesh attachments having this issue. There is no particular object that exhibits the issue; It just seems to fail at random on random meshes. In the viewer debug console there are a lot of messages pertaining to missing textures (404 error) but not sure if it is related to this issue or not.

I have also noticed that in addition to the described issue; teleporting to another region will make some of the mesh pieces appear sometimes, but others will still remain unrendered. It also seems to make it hard to detach and attach something else after it happens. I can only switch outfits reliably if I relog first before each attempt. |

please test http://opensimulator.org/dist/osgridTest190114.zip [^] ( my compile of current master, for osgrid - I hope ) |

Same problem in Singularity but not in Firestorm |

@Ubit - Tested your compiled version but there doesn't seem to be any change for this issue; meshes are still eventually failing to load. |

I got that along with a member of mine had same issue, restarting grid fixed it but I shouldn't have to restart grid for this issue. I'm using OS 9.0.1 and using Firestorm 5.1.7 (55786) Jul 13 2018 22:34:51 (64bit) |

what is your region cpu mewtwo? |
(0033825) mewtwo0641 (reporter) 2019-01-16 17:42 |
@Ubit - I am unsure if you mean CPU useage or what CPU the system is running; but CPU useage is near 0% and the CPU running is an AMD FX 8320 (8 Core) at 3.5 GHz. There's very few people on the region at any given time and I have seen the issue frequently when it's only just me on the grid/region(s). |

I have seen the issues on a number of occasions when jumping home from another grid and one of the attachments or body itself has come off in transit. Attempting to rewear or add the item fails. A workaround fix I have used for such is to rezz the attachment on the ground and then while standing beside it, select the Wear option from the r-click pie menu. This is usually successful and the item reattaches in the original position and is then fine again on subsequent attempts. |
