Summary0007140: [BULLETSIM] Check if terrain levels lower than 0m will be handled
DescriptionOpenSim allows for terrain levels lower than 0m.. i.e. negative values for things like extensive and deep underwater builds.

ODE and some viewers such as Firestorm can handle such negative terrain (mostly).. but the default physics engine for OpenSim is BulletSim and that restricts avatar motion to be above 0m.

Can we establish if this is a limitation that will be maintained in BulletSim moving forward, or if it can be changed (at some stage in future) to allow for negative terrain values. This will allow builders and region developers using the default physics engine to know how to proceed.

Just for the record here... there are a few places in viewers editing dialogues where an assumption of z=0m base is assumed... but with OpenSim variants of modern viewers those may be able to be fixed...

As per the opensim-dev mailing list discussion, we will endeavour to support negative z. Leaving this mantis open because I know there are some places in general functionality where this needs to be fixed (e.g. initial teleport locations).
