Summary0006909: choppy movement of the avatar
DescriptionWalking and flying is choppy. Slow and fast moving alternate. This has nothing to do with the rubber band-effect !

Important: In "OSgrid 0.7.6 (Dev) 3646361: 2013-02-05" this problem was much less intense.

(This was the last version i worked with, before i updated to 0.8.0)

Important2: This happens in Standalone-mode too.

Important3: I remember at a bug-report in the past, that had the same topic. Because there is no search-function here, i cannot give the number.

Not in response to the bug itself, but rather to your "there is no search function" comment...

Go to http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view_all_bug_page.php [^]

At the top you'll see a "search" box as well as a toggle between simple search and advanced search...if you select advanced search you can filter by many assorted criteria.

Thank you. I had overlooked this ;-)

Nevertheless: I cannot find the other report. If i remember right, it was from 2012, and justincc had the idea, that ode had problems to update the "moving data".

P.S. I see just now: The relationsship is already set. Thanks RiRa.

Is this with Bullet? If so, please try git master 3c992b0 and see the comments in the linked Mantis.

No. I use only ODE. My last Serverversion was:

OSgrid 0.8.0 (Dev) 2b069a3: 2013-11-02
git hash : 2b069a3b1ea6750d35e318989c8b982e82adba43

That Version showed this jerky movements while walking and flying very extremely.

Now i am using the newest Version:

OSgrid 0.8.0 (Dev) 9bae636: 2014-05-23
git hash : 9bae636ff0dc426e913e26c45b6936f16131f6d5

Walking and flying are much better now. Still a little bit jerky. But the improvement is enormous.

There is another thing: before the current version the scene was extremely jerky, when you were standing and moved "the head of your avatar" in mouselook by moving the mouse.

Now, in the new Version its perfectly smooth. Maybe this is a hint for the problem?

Is this still an issue in current OpenSimulator master? There have been changes to make self movement much smoother.

I'm still noticing this on commit ac93ba9. ODE seems to be slightly smoother for me than Bullet but there is a little bit of jerkiness. I've noticed there does seem to be a viewer difference. On Phoenix and Singularity viewer movement is very smooth and not jerky at all except very occasionally and it could possibly be chalked up to video lag; but on Firestorm movement is jerky (especially when flying) in the manner described in this mantis. Having attachments on seem to make this effect more pronounced.
