|Summary||0006899: [HG ASSET SERVICE] Extremely slow return of returned objects to foreign grid|
|Description||On regions on the Openvue grid I returned some objects that had been left by a foreign grid traveller from http://sanctuary.homelinux.org:8012. [^] There were about 2,000 such objects. Some 12 hours later the returns were still being done very slowly one object at a time.... roughly one object every 20 seconds. This is really slow and will not scale for managing a large grid.|
Sample console trace..

|Sanctuary is my grid, and this guy is just as unwelcome here, as he is anywhere else. I saw that he created an account on my grid on the 15th. I have just locked it. But if he has gone to your grid and created all these objects, which you are now returning, then isn't he basically using you to grief me, by filling my database with all of these objects, as you return them?|

True... it affects all of us. And I assume he/she will simply come back with another avatar anyway.
The delete objects function (even by a region owner) seems to return the objects... whereas I would have preferred for them simply to be deleted locally and not returned. I did not explicitly "return" them. I used "delete" on the visible objects in the regions, and used "delete object outside" to get rid of those off the edge of each sim.
Sorry its causing you grief too. In fact I had to stop the system as it was taking so long and restore from a backup copy of the data base. Such a pain.
I have now temporarily (I hope) locked down all our regions so no one but the owner of group members can build unfortunately. But I don't want to come back to a mess after the holidays.
|Thanks for reporting aiaustin. In the meantime, if you want to allow foreign users to build in a sandbox region you might make use of the timer_Interval and timer_Script settings to build a procedure to clean a region by loading a clean oar.|
