Summary0006732: Hosts file not affective when connecting to server in local network
DescriptionRunning openSIM out of the box, edited the port files for external use since my provider blocked 9000. Am perfectly able to connect externally now. The externalhostname is set to a no-ip DNS redirect, but when setting in the hosts file: 192.168.1.22 blah.redirectme.net
the region handshake doesn't work.
Steps To ReproduceOpensim 0.7.5 on Windows Server 2003
- Edited the http_listen_port to 83
- Default region configuration:
Internalport = 132
Externalhostname = blah.redirectme.net
Internalhost = 192.168.1.22
- Started Opensim
- On different internal computer, added this to the hosts file: 192.168.1.22 blah.redirectme.net
Additional InformationI am quite new to OpenSIM, my apologies i'm not an expert. The connection scheme i got from a website tells me this should work though. The server sends the region externalhostname to the viewer, the viewer will then connect to the externalhostname (which is redirected to the local address as stated in the hosts file) but which seems not to be happening.
